REVIEW – I am setting myself up for some funny memes with the picture above!  I hate cleaning inside the house, but it is a necessary evil.  I would much rather be doing yardwork outside.  So when a new tool comes along to make that inside cleaning chore easier, I am always willing to check it out.  The Hoto Electric Spin Scrubber promises to make almost any scrubbing chore easier.  Let’s see if it can hold up to its promise.

What is it?

Design and features

The first thing I want to mention is how well packed the Hoto spin scrubber was.  Everything had its own slot and everything was recyclable.  That was a big win in my book.

The Hoto spin scrubber comes with six different types of cleaning tools.  The first one I want to show you is the soft cloth brush.  It feels like it is made of a micro fiber material.  I see where this could possibly be used to dust glass table surfaces.  The back is made of the velcro like material so it can attach to the velcro head attachment.  I personally have not used this head yet, but like that it is an option.

Next, you have the sponge and scour pad.  The sponge could be used anywhere where you would be worried about marring the surface.  I used the scour pad in my sinks, and it was pretty awesome.  I used it on the slower speed as the faster speed seemed to want to spray cleaning fluid everywhere.

Here are a couple of shots of the front and back of the velcro attachment head.  The spin scrubber can attach to the cleaning heads in any direction.  The final picture shows the scrub head attached to the velcro attachment head.

Next, we have the nylon brushes.  These pictures show you the two button that are on either side of the attachment point on each brush head and the velcro attachment head.

The main body is very simple.  The angle of the head is fixed at a 45-degree angle, and there is only one button on the unit used to control it.  Pressing and holding that button for one second will turn it on.  Pressing and holding it again for another second will turn it off.  Two small LED lights above the button indicate the speed at which the unit is running.  One light will be lit at low speed and two at high speed.  Pressing the power button quickly will allow you to switch between the two speeds.

On the bottom part of the handle you will find the USB-C charging port residing behind a rubber cover.  The notches cut out around the rubber gasket for the charging port are where the extension pole can slide into place.

This is a picture of the head of the unit where the different attachments go.  You simply slide the attachment over the base until you hear a click.

The next few pictures show the extension rod at its minimum and maximum length.  You can set the extension to any length you want in between with the compression handle in the middle.  The last picture shows the end of the extension rod that connects to the end of the handle of the spin scrubber.  It has an extension on it.  It can only go into the handle’s base, where the charging port is.  To lock the extension pole in place, you turn the pole clockwise until you hear a click.  To remove the pole, you turn it counterclockwise.

I took a picture of the unit charging so you could see the two LED lights. When the device is fully charged, they will both be lit and solid.

Performance

I used the pointed brush to detail clean under the edges of my kitchen sink.  I then used the scouring pad to clean the sink itself.  The base unit without the extension pole is perfect for this.  Many of the spin scrubbers sold on Amazon have built-in extension poles, making this type of cleaning difficult.  The unit feels heavy-duty and well-built.  I love that the head is at a fixed 45-degree angle.  Other spin scrubbers have heads that can click and adjust, and I found that the head will change independently if I apply more pressure to the unit.   The Hoto head stays put, which makes it easier to use.

I used the Hoto with the extension pole in my shower.  I have a lot of floor space to clean, making it easy.  Again, because the head is at a fixed angle, I did not find myself leaning forward more and more because the angle of the brush head was not changing on its own.

What I like about Hoto Electric Spin Scrubber

  • Well built
  • Fixed angle for the brush head so it won’t move independently.
  • The extension pole can be removed to use the unit as a handheld device.
  • They offer replacement pads and brushes.

What needs to be improved?

Final thoughts

The Hoto Spin Scrubber has become my new favorite tool for cleaning my bathrooms and kitchens.  I may take it outside and see how well it works when I use it to clean my car’s wheels.  It is a bit pricier than others that you can find on Amazon, but the quality of the tool, and the fact that they sell replacement brushes really makes it worth the money for me.
