A humidifier like SwitchBot’s Auto-Fill is just what the doctor ordered to make it feel warmer and help with skin and breathing issues. Let’s have a deeper look!
What is it?
The SwitchBot Auto-Fill Humidifier is an electrical appliance that increases airborne moisture using flowing air. The humidifier’s water tank can be automatically refilled with a SwitchBot S10 Floor Cleaning Robot.

Design and features
I have eczema that causes constant itching. Keeping the humidity level at about 60% helps. It also makes my home feel warmer (saving energy! Yay!) and helps clear my nose.
SwitchBot announced its Auto-Fill humidifier a few weeks ago, and I’ve been excited to try it. It arrived in a large, environmentally friendly recycle box and packaging.
The housing is attractive and fits well with my home décor.
The power cord is not removable and has a wall wart at the end of a 1.5-meter cord.
The water tank is removable and slides easily into place. Alternatively, the top of the tank opens to fill with a pitcher. The tank contains a UV light to sterilize tap water and kill bacteria—an unexpected feature! Bravo, SwitchBot! Clean the tank monthly.
Air is drawn into the humidifier through openings around the base.
A removable door on the side accesses the filter assembly that should be cleaned every 240 hours of operation (about once a month) with a homemade citric acid solution for stubborn stains. A well-maintained filter will last about ten years.
Magnets hold the cover in place.
The water tray needs monthly cleaning, too.
While at it, clean the dust off the prefilters with a rinse or vacuum.
Automatic refilling is an exciting feature! A set of ports is built into the humidifier’s base. If you have a SwitchBot S10 (reviewed here) and the refill station is plumbed into a supply, the vacuum will transport and transfer water to the humidifier. So cool!
There is a cover panel if you don’t use the refill ports.

Controls include a status light, Wi-Fi indicator, Filter clean reminder, reset, timer, output level, mode (with child lock), power button, and filter drying lamp.
The auto humidity mode requires pairing with a SwitchBot temperature/humidity meter (Indoor/Outdoor Hygrometer Hub 2, Thermometer/Hygrometer Plus, and Thermometer Hygrometer). Initially surprised that the humidifier doesn’t have a built-in humidistat, I realized that external measurement is a better approach. For a few dollars, a remote meter will be more accurate because it measures the temperature and humidity of the room instead of the conditions surrounding the humidifier. I have several of these around my house, and I use one in the same room.
The humidifier was paired with the app, and the firmware was updated quickly. SwitchBot walks through the process, including pairing with the sensor, with no surprises.
Of course, the humidifier was empty at first.
The app has settings for drying the filter, child lock, delay timers, schedules, and a maintenance log.
To fill the humidifier, the app steps through the auto-refill configuration.
The S10 needs to know where the humidifier is located. Once marked, the S10 had no trouble finding it and making multiple trips to the filling station to gather water and bring it back to the humidifier. It took a while to fill, but it worked perfectly. Fantastic!
SwitchBot provides many user settings to tweak the humidifier to your heart’s content.

Final thoughts
After only a few days of using the SwitchBot Auto-Fill humidifier, I can feel the difference in the air in my house. I don’t feel quite as itchy; it feels warmer, and the humidity has consistently stayed at about 60%. Maintenance is easy, the filter automatically dries, and UV water treatment is available. Great job, SwitchBot!
